About Brooklynn

This is the space where you get to learn about me so you can decide whether I can help you and then contact me. It's an odd thing to write about one's self in this manner but here we go:

I am a California Licensed Psychotherapist #103221. I specialize in working with the LGBTQ community, their allies, kink and polyamorous communities. My past and current work involves life changing medical diagnosis, questions surrounding sexuality and gender, and couples working through whether to get married, stay together, navigating separation with families, and healing relationship wounds. I founded The Nest Counseling Center to provide opportunities for Associate Therapists to continue their education in providing therapy to the LGBTQ Community.

My goal is to provide a safe and comfortable environment for professionals, couples, families, groups and individuals to work on life's goals and challenges. My approach to therapy is from a non pathologizing perspective which aims to focus on collaboration and strength versus deficits.

I am skilled at providing lectures/presentations on mental health issues of the LGBTQ community. I have been a Guest Lecturer at Long Beach State University, Argosy University, CHOC and the Orange County Mental Health Agency.

For my education, I attended the University of California, Irvine obtaining a Bachelors of Arts in Criminology, Law and Society and then Pepperdine University earning a Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology.

I am an active member of CAMFT and Psy Chi International Honors Society.

I provide Clinical Supervision both at The Nest Counseling Center and with the LGBTQ Center Orange County.

My journey to becoming a therapist has included 12 years in corporate culture where I assisted in developing training modules, creating techniques to improve employee morale and initiated collaboration across business lines. I helped create an employee reward system which placed employee requests for acknowledgment into action and was cost effective. My experience in corporate culture provides me an insight into the stress and the challenge of harmonizing one's personal life with one's work life demands.

I am a daughter, a friend, a mom, a wife, community member, an ally and a lover of potty jokes. To schedule an appointment or consult please call me at (949) 287-3942 or via email Brooklynn@BrooklynnKendall.com
